PRCA-B Presents: Pork N’ Beans, Pyramids, and Ponchos

PRCA-B 2019 (9)

Pork N’ Beans, Pyramids, and Ponchos is an interactive session designed to increase cultural awareness among those working with diverse individuals and in multicultural environments. The course will encourage participants to explore their own assumptions and preconceptions about other cultures, as well as creating awareness of their own cultural heritage and how it affects their worldviews, values and assumptions.

Participants will leave November’s Lunch and Learn with an in-depth cultural awareness and understanding of the impact of cultural differences, the necessary foundation and tools to become culturally competent, and a better understanding of the cultural challenges facing multicultural workplaces.

Join us at the November 20 meeting where we will hear from Melva Tate, radio personality, best-selling author and a feature writer and contributor to leading newspapers and magazines. Tate previously served as the Director of HR & Administration for two start-up organizations, before launching her own company – Tate & Associates, LLC. Her firm specializes in executive talent searches, human resource consulting, training and development, and career coaching to businesses, universities and nonprofit organizations. Tate & Associates’ success stories include clients like Mercedes Benz, The United Way of Central Alabama, YWCA, YMCA, REV Birmingham, Taziki’s Café, Railroad Park Foundation, City of Tuskegee, Tuskegee University, Miles College, and Alabama A&M University.

The meeting will be held at Camp Smile a Mile. Street address is 1600 2nd Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama 35233.
